Quick question, is it necessary to install the heat tubes into the intake(Scat) manifold?

ive got this carb. prob not necessary in terms of pre-heating the air-fuel mix in Oz, but it is necessary for providing support to the manifold. also there's nothing prevent the manifold twisting in the end castings or moving laterally (unless you've already figured that one out)

My intake gets a bit chilly, but not too bad, I think. Or you could look at it this way. You have a vacuum intercooled CAI setup that ricers would kill for. Or something like that.

The carby base thing my wever setup came with had a bolt hole tapped into the bottom and a bit of thin strap steel attached in the middle by the bolt.
The two ends of the strap had a hole drilled in them. Each one could be made to align with one of the tinware screws which mounted to the case. This was arranged diagonally, and when the intake runners were attached teh whole thing became fairly solid. It doesn't move around on me.

i had a weber with no heat on for a while a few years back and i remember being up at dubs by the pub one year fighting to keep it idling in stop go traffic cos the manifold was icing
that was in february so it wasnt exactly cold either

It is humidity as well
