Hi all, i am in the middle of repairing rust holes i found in my 356 fuel tank(what fun), i need to find one of those internal seal kits after i finish the welding, its apparently a liquid you shake around in the tank which dries up and seals the inside, does anyone know where i can get this from?I am in brisbane, any ideas appreciated,cheers,steve

I think George at Classic Veedub has that product as i am sure that the company that does the chassis treatment has this product,if not check in Australian Classsic Car magazine.

Before u use a product like that no matter what brand remove and clean the tank inside and outside with soap n water

get a light hammer and gently tape the underside of the tank to dis lodge any internal rust from the inner skin of the tank dont hit it too hard

then get a few hand fulls of nuts and bolts or some steel chain and put inside the tank and shank it around for 30 or so minutes to futher dis lodge any rust n gunk

then remove the nuts n bolts and inspect the tank up to a bright light to see how many holes you have

if its more than a few you should really do a rust repair using new sheet steel and weld it in

the repair kits are only recomended for pinholes look up POR 15 and find yr local supplier

Thanks for the advise , i will be making sure all pinholes are welded up, i just want the extra protection inside to prevent it spreading, thanks again.

Hi Steve. Once the welding is done, pour a heap of a product called POR15 in there. We used to use it all the time at the hot rod shop and never had any dramas with it. It's a really good sealer. Might be worth a try for you?
