Good party trick Dave  Maybe I'm off topic for Tech Talk on VWs but whoever it is can only be labeled as a clown. When you've worked around machinery and belt drives all your working life you get a different angle on things. A mate from the apprenticeship days now living in Tamworth (he was a fitter in the flour mill up there) lost an eye through simulating cracking the head off a snake by useing a link V belt..... stud into eye. V belts would be one of the most dangerous drive systems resulting in nipped off fingers in a flash.

Get the bloke in the video to have a go at flicking one of these belts off at Eveleigh Loco Works (Redfern). Many of these 1900 vintage machines were still there in the 60s complete with belts from the line shafts. He'd quickly learn to do things safely!!
