Ok, before I lose a finger or my mind, I'm going to see if anyone out there would be willing to do this job for me for a pretty penny.
I'm after someone who knows what they're doing, has the right tools and who is willing to come to my place at Randwick (Sydney) and remove/replace
the rear hubs/bearings on my Porsche 914. Garage is nice and clean(ish) and I have pretty much most tools except for a 5 pound lump hammer and/or
slide hammer. A drift would probably be handy too from what I read on the 914 forums.
This is probably the most comprehesive "how to" on the net for those of you willing - http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/914_five_lug_conversion/914_five_lug...
I'm converting the brakes over to Porsche 5 stud. Front is done but the rears are biting my rear. I don't really have the time nor the skin to do
the job so I'm going to offer it to the first person that says they CAN do it.
I'll pay you $300 for a successful job. With the right tools and know how, It should take around half a day, I think.
Conditions -
- I need it done last week ie as soon as possible!
- Only competent/experienced people apply, please. I can't have you and 5 of your mates sitting in my garage for two days drinking and tinkering
because firstly that's my job and secondly, I really need it done quickly! In saying that, your're more than welcome to bring your apprentice or
trusty sidekick if you think they'll be able to assist you.
-I MAY be here to help depending on when you can come over.
-Ill supply you food and drink.
Anyway, is anyone interested in helping me? If so, call me on 0402 179 287 to discuss. If I don't answer the phone, leave me a message and I'll get
back to you.
Thanks,
Steve
WOW....great opportuninty for someone to earn some $$ !!!
I thought so too, Mick!
As it turns out, almost 100 people have looked at the thread but no-one has contacted me yet....
I would have thought a couple of guys would have had a crack for sure!
I pretty much have the rear right side done. Just need to knock the hub out of the trailing arm. Left still to disassemble and do.
Offer still stands!!!
Yep I'll do it, be there this Sat at 12 midday.
Got to zip out the door tonight to a function but will give you a call/pm/text tomorrow to discuss.
Or just pm/text me and I'll answer it when i get home tonight.
cheers

Hi
Glad you found someone. I bought a tool for 944 rear wheel bearings, it looks like it could maybe used on the 914 rear end. Link to the tool here http://www.arnnworx.com/BearingTool1.htm
Steve
ttriebler, thanks mate but I did the job today. You can now spend the Staurday doing something you want to do!
Steve, I went and bought a Hub Puller/Slide Hammer today like this one -

Worked amazingly! I did the other side in an hour. Goes to show when you have the right tool for the job, it really helps.
Thanks guys,
Steve
OK just send me the $300 bucks anyway.....I can put it to good use on the buggy.
I was gonna bring the slide hammer over to do the job as that's the key!!!
Hi
That tool looks the goods, a few years ago no self respecting crim would be without one, to pull locks out of doors and ignition switches.
