I bought this degree sand seal pulley many moons ago, and i suspect its a power pulley, but i have no idea. I can't remember out of the many things i
ordered in my parts inventory...
How wide is the stock pulley?
I have a steel 6 volt stock crank pulley, will that be the same diameter as the 12 volt?
It won't fit though with my sand seal, but just something for me to play with none the less.
Thanks guys!
Christopher Leete.

awesome! Thanks mate, will measure off that one
Hi Chris...
most sand seals are machined to fit into the case,,,
and use a special pulley...
I see now You can buy a sand seal that fits into the case and a special pulley is again used....
so, NO seal to be used with a VW pulley....
the VW pulley is used with the oil slinger..
cheers
LEE
PS: I don't like or recommend power pulleys... LEE
PSS; many NEW alloy pulleys now need shims to make them fit????
Thanks Lee!
Yea i got the sand seal that you tap in. Bloody genius!, and sooo easy. i got the proper alloy pulley for it and the shims. I fitted it without the shims and when torqued up, the crank locked up
(eek!) i couldn't turn by hand...
I just wanted to measure up the crank pulley to make sure i didn't grab a sand seal pulley when i bought it ages ago... Cause like you and alot of
wise dubbers i have heard, no one seems to approve of them, and rightly so. The vw engineers had it right the first time and don't want to break away
from that.
If its a power pulley it can be someone elses problem
chris, youll know if its a power pulley
they noticably smaller
bout the same size as the gen pulley
speaking off does anyone know if there were other variatons on stock pulley size?
all my aus 1600 twin port pulleys are the same size but the one of dads engine which is a european 1300 twinport is about 10mm smaller
Thanks Joel its certainly not that small.. no way. substancially bigger...
