Picked up a 1600 TP motor yesterday to put into the Beetle but it has what looks to be a high volume oil pump, plus an external filter setup. Is there any need for this on a pretty much standard engine? I would like to go back to the original oil pump as it is going to foul on the exhaust system. Is it as simple as unbolting the big unit and bolting on a standard pump?

Also i pulled off the clutch assy and it has one of those plates without the torsion springs. Are these ok? The clutch has only done around 3000klms and would still be ok to use.
