drum diamater and shoe thickness

would anyone know the inside diamater of a type 3 rear drum and the thickness of the material on the shoes when new ?? im getting competition linings made up and they need to know before they do it.

It depends on what year type 3,
the most common one is 248.1 to 248.2mm dameter when new,(wear limit 249.5),
with linings 3.8 to 4mm thick(oversize are 4.3 to 4.5 with drums at max turned diameter of 249mm),
with shoe width of 45mm.
These specs apply to both 4-stud and wide 5 after Aug 1963.

...BUT,!... there were two earlier versions that were 231.1mm like beetles, but being 40mm wide( pre Aug 62),
and later, 45 wide, these being pre August 1963.

In Australia I think we got the smaller diameter brake for a little longer than the German specifications.("send the old shit to Australia Helmut!")
