Carby problems
Beetle bailey - January 24th, 2010 at 11:17 AM

I am having trouble with the carbys on my type 3. Mechanic has replaced the motor and just about everything else and now carbys need attention. He could not get a rebuild kit for the 28 pict carbys on my type 3 here in Perth. Are there rebuild kits available. He stated that an alternative is a single carb conversion?
Can anyone help with where to get rebuild kit or alternatives

Thanks

Have you tried the usual VW parts suppliers for rebuild kits?

Is it really worth putting a kit through one. George has new carbs for like $250. If you take the cost of the kit and then fitting it to the carb, then it could cost around $150. You still have a carb with worn shafts and linkages.

I tossed this around with most parts and its more economical just to buy new stuff of George

BB, If it's an Auto type 3, shouldn't it have two 32 PDSIT Solex carbs? Has it reAlly got two 28 PICT's?
