Hi Guys
Put a new engine seal in. Now trying to put the accelerator cable in. I poke that steel tube in through the doghouse shroud and where you put the
accelerator cable into that tube from the gearbox side, the new seal is in the way. Was I meant to cut a slot in that seal for the cable.
there should be a hole there too in the tin
Yes there is a hole in the tin, but then it has to go through the seal. I can see a little cutout in the lip that holds the seal at exactly the place
the cable goes through, but I should have cut the seal before I put the engine in. Frikken heck, its a bugger when you dont do something, now I cant
get a cutter or anything in there. Will have to get some tube and heat it so it cuts a hole in the seal.
Thanks Guys
Tube shouldn't need to have a slot in the seal. Maybe you fitted the seal upside down, should flap up.
Mat
So are you saying the tube goes under the seal. hahah, well doesnt matter anyway as I have just burnt a nice roound hole in the seal. Well not so
nice and round lol.
Yes mate.
The acc tube goes through the front breast plate, that can be done while engine still out of car.
The seal across the firewall, points rearward and upwards, it flaps onto the to of the breast plate, hence not even touching the acc cable, as the
cable should also be threaded through the probably missing bowden tube that goes from the nose of the gearbox to the fan housing tube. It stops the
cable from sawing through the side of the intermediate housing of the transmission, and also the pan acc tube filling up with dirt and stuff that
eventually jambs up the cable.
I fixed exactly that on a well used turbo beach machine yesterday evening...........sometimes called 'The Cherry'
