Increasing front track
robertocarlos - January 30th, 2010 at 07:51 AM

I have just installed a set of late model 944 suspension components into my 69 irs bettle.

Are there any simple/cost effective ways of increasing my front track to match that of my rear? I think I need a minimum of 70mm.

Cheers

hi Robertcarlos,
Be carefull how you do this, if you put another set of Wheels on the car that give you the increase in width you will be changing all of the front suspension geometory,
the scrub radius on the front should remain as close to standard as possible and the only way to do this is to widen the wheels the same amount in and out, changing the scrub radius will increase the bump steer and the car will tramline badly as well as load the bearing up over there disign load, i have the same rear end going in my car but i will be using a double a arm front end that i can match to the rear, you could widen the front beam to match the rear while maintaining the geometry and gain an improvment in the handling
