Arnott Supercharger - Any info?
HappyDaze - February 7th, 2010 at 04:25 PM

Amongst my 'odds & ends' I have an Arnott supercharger. Thought I might fit it onto the 36hp engine for my '56 Cabriolet - which is almost ready for painting.

Arnott blowers (they were similar to a Judson) were sometimes fitted to early Beetlles, and although I don't like vane blowers, it would be appropriate.

Does anyone out there have any info. on the Arnott, paticularly VW mounting details etc? Photos would be a big help also.

Cheers, Greg

Looks like Arnott was a British company, with their blowers made from around 1955 for installs on MGs and so on.

Have a look here for some photos: http://www.almar.easynet.be/Arnott.htm

You can always rely on Phil for the answer. He is the Bill Collins of the VW knowledge tree :-)

Thanks Phil, it's not a great photo, but it does show where the blower is mounted - that is probably all I need. My blower is the same as the one shown, complete with the Arnott carby.

Hi

It looks like it has pop off valve over the manifold mounting, looks like a well thought out setup.

Thats iteresting.

When I got my car, it had a couple of bolts afixed to the decking (body) on the left hand side of the main pully. The owner said it used to be part of a blower.

The blower was sold some yeasrs ago, but I was wondering what it was?
