Fuel Pump rod
clinker42 - February 8th, 2010 at 12:23 PM

Hi guys

Are there different fuel pump rods for different models. Just bought a new fuel pump and rod from George, when bolting together, it compresses the fuel pump diaphragm completely and leaves a gap of about 3mm between the pump and spacer.

Anyone know what length the rod should be.

Thanks Trevor

i think the alternator fuel pump rod is a different lenght.
if you use the wrong one it will break the arm in the pump.

theres 2 lengths

100mm for alternator cars and 108mm for generator cars

your trying to fit an alternator style pump with a generator push rod

i'd use that as a last resort
might ruin the hardening doing that

Hacksaw would be only was i can think of unless you happen to have a band saw in your garage.

They are mild steel only, the end on the cam is hardened but the fuel pump end is mild steel.
