bajachris88 - April 19th, 2010 at 10:02 PM

Hi guys,

am steering box shopping.
Will one from the states to suit a left hand drive fit a Aust build right hand drive?

69' 1500 model.

regards and thanks in advance,
Christopher.

I believe they will fit OK
as I know they use the LHD steering box when making a beetle into RHD...

Can't You find a steering box over here??
should be plenty about...

as they don't wear out like the late model 1303s & 1302s..

They will fit , however the direction of rotation will be reversed! when you turn the wheel left the wheels go right and such. NAh just kidding .I dont think they will? Mitchell fit. ?

I tried to modify one for a super beetle (S bug) and it wouldn't work. It may be different for an earlier car but I would just buy one here and not take the chance unless someone that has done it lets you know it is possible.

thanks guys...
Neah, already made my order. Easy to pick off an online catalogue and not too exy, then it gets delivered to my door, easy way.

In theory, i can see the joiner thingo (wishbone??) to the tie rods being different, btu they don't come with it.

We will soon find out! :tu:
It was a liquidation sale apparently, pretty cheap.
