Now this question is very open.

I was just talking with a guy i work with and he was telling me he got new rotors (vented) from mitsubishi for $35 bux. (They apparently didnt change any of the setup in the last 5 years of production so its cheap as chips).

I was just wondering how involved is changing the 68 disc front end to use discs from a Mitsubishi. (i realise the studds will be wrong/but they can be redrilled right?).

Would the standard brake cyl be good enough or would i need to amp it up?

This is just a thought, but is it possible without too many headaches and $$'s?

First - you cant redrill. You need blanks drilled to that pattern
VW aftermarket does this.
I doubt Mr Bushy does. I have no idea what the stud pattern for Mr Bushy is but am guessing it is 4 or 5 stud 4 x 100 which "can" work

As for gtting it all to work - i would just put it in the too hard basket.
I have no idea how the rotor sits - if it is like type 3 or type 1
Then you have to somehow make a bracket to make the caliper fit - or find another caliper that will work with that rotor. I doubt the stock VW one will.

Quality blank "equal thickness" VW rotors (allowing any stud pattern to be used" are about $150 ish each

you forgot the engineer side as well barry, this will need a full inspection from one to be legal. id have a chat to one first before starting.

mitsy are same as toyota,ford, mazda etc 5x114.3

but they like most modern cars use a totally different setup to bugs

the bearings and studs are part of the hubs
and the discs just sit over the top of them
thats why there so cheap, cos theres hardly anything to them unlike vw discs which have the hubs and discs all in one

If that is Mr Bushy then i doubt it will work
type 3 is more like a top hat.
