Hey all, can anyone please give me some measurements of the O.D. of the type 1, kombi and 930 diff splined shafts? These are what the output flanges
bolt onto.
Or converseley can anyone give me the inner O.D. of the splined hole from any of your output flanges? Even better if you can measure the diameter at
both the base of the splines and at the tip of the splines.
Dangerous probably knows these off by heart.....
I know that type one is 33 and 002 bus is 37 spline,
but otherwise I will have to make some measurements tomorrow.
Will reply to your pm then too.
Too sleepy now.
OK,
930 has a male spline that is part of the drive flange,
and it is retained by a single allen socket head cap screw through its centre.
the side gear within the diff has a femail spline to match it.
I dont have any of those.
But recall the one I had, was NOT bigger than the 091 spline.
The axles however are 28 spline
and approx sizes are 30.9 outside diameter
and 28.8 inside diameter within the CV joint.
This is the same as a 28 spline ford axle, and early IRS commodore, and is a 90 degree spline.
Bug output spline is 33 teeth and 26.75 outside with 25.55 root diameter of the spline.
All bug, type 3 and bus splines on the CV axle is this same small size spline.
002 bus(1600 to 1800)n output spline is 37 tooth and 30mm outside with 28.65 root diameter.
The axle splie is the same as bug, but a bit longer in length to the shoulder.
091 output spline has 40 teeth and an OD of 32.3mm with root diameter of 31.
Never saw a broken one of these, although my supercharged car did try to twist some a little.
How good is this bloke? Thanks Dave that's awesome tech - am getting it sorted now.
well, he is one of the leading motor/trans builders and VW drag racers in oz.
