What would you guys recommend and what do you think of the platinum/iridium plugs which are garunteed for ?80 thousand km? Its a bugger to change plugs with dual carbs
Hi
I'm not sure if it would be good idea to leave the plugs in a VW head that long. You need to be a little inventive to make the plug changing
easier.
Steve
personally i have a couple of 1" holes either side that allow me to adjust mixture screws and get plugs out
Once you are jetted right no real need to take plugs out - but plugs should be looked at once a year so the dont seize in the hole

meh............. a couple of holes doesnt bother me for the gain i get
Still - bugger all time to pull a set of duals.
Once a year it should get a real good check
Personal opinion - there is better things you can spend your money on
im with bizarre and steve a couple of holes drilled in the side are better then seized plugs in heads
Hi
To change the plugs on my sons bug, I take the air cleaners off, to undo the plugs on #1&2 I use plug socket with hex at the end and I just undo
them with a stubby open ender, if the plugs are changed regularly they spin out & in by hand, #3&4 are nearly as easy as with a stock carb.
