Handbrake cable and handbrake lever boot

Hi Guys

The Handbrake lever boot, do you guys have an issue with the handbrake cables coming out too far from that flat piece where you do the adjustment and then have issues with the handbrake boot not fitting very well.

Are stretched cables common and the most important thing, can you replace the cable with the carpet and boot installed.

they usually end up like that after one snaps and gets replaced so the remaining one needs to be adjusted more

thats the reason i usually replace them in pairs, if one snaps the other probably isnt far off

just make sure the balance bar stays pefectly level when the handbrake is applied, if it does and you want an easy fix, just cut the long one off, it'll need replacing eventually if its stretched

yep as per above ones been replaced and the other not

ALWAYS replace both when one snaps or u get probs like this

I would replace both to fix problem

Also adjust the rear brake shoes first

leave the cable slack make sure the shoes r adjusted correctly then adjust the hand brake at the lever end

The cables as above are the most common problem but another problem can be excess wear on the operating link between the shoes,if it is worn the cable has to travel further to expand the shoes.
