where to get good quality panels?
psimitar - May 8th, 2010 at 10:20 PM

Hiya everyone,

Whilst de-rusting the drivers channel closing panel on me bug I found it to be somewhat swiss cheese like. I don't think it's worth saving so am wondering where you can get good quality panels from that aren't make from paper thin steel?

I know Hookeys in the UK make excellent panels but wondered if there is something closer to home or should I cut a panel and get a fabrication shop to run a few beads down it for me?

Cheers,
Mike

Yes
You would need to see the part before buying it..
as there are many very thin Brasillian panels out there..
not sure how thick the UK ones are...

but they would be a lot more expensive than South American ones...
but from what I have read, the UK parts do fit better....

Yea thats what I thought. Repro are kinda OK for body panels but the chaneels really need to be made of 0.8-1mm steel as this is structural.

I believe Mr Hookey uses OE thickness steel but have asked him directly.

Reckon I'll drill it off and see how bad the inside is as it may be savable but lot of work involved which means is it worth it or $100 for a Hookeys?

You know I'm a bit sick and tired of wanting to know how much a part will cost and having to waste my time phoning around.

How hard is it to put the bloody price on your website???

I have this thing called a job to do from 9-5 so bugger it I'll buy from the UK or USA where I can get pricing straight away over the net. May cost more in postage but am fed up of shitty Aussie websites.:grind:
