Replacing door rubbers on my 69 beetle
Paulc1964au - May 30th, 2010 at 05:24 PM

Just ordered new door rubbers from Classic.

how difficult is it to replace the seals and is there anything I should know?

Do i need to selastic them in or do they just press into the doors?

Do i need to remove the pin of the hinge?

they just push in

no glue

make sure u clean ALL the old crap n glue out first use some prepsol to remove

ues a wooden wedge to help push into place if the rubbers dont fit then give me a ring

Installed new door rubbers in rosie today. I bought these from classic Veedub and they are the German rubbers so paid a little more but they fit so well.

Good to see You have them in OK...

most probably one of the easiest things to fit in a beetle..

although I have seen people shut the door and it chops off part of the door rubber,,

I fitted mine then left the doors shut for a while..

I rubbed armorall all over it so it would slide when closed...

I still use armorall on them now & then...
I do it on late model cars also...

I have new ones to fit... one day...

both mine are damaged where I had roof bars on..

so they weren't great quality I guess...

it seems that contact adhesive was used near the door lock

from factory??? I don't know..

cheers

LEE

PS: to glue rubber You need to clean the rubber first.. Lee

Lee,

thanks so much for the advice, I just went out and armouralled the new rubbers as well as the rest of the seals, looks 100%. I didnt worry about gluing as they fitted perfectly although the passenger side door is a little tight but I'm sure will free up after a few days
