when iu let the clutch out on my fasty it starts to shutter the whole car like its kangaroo hoping(or whateva they call it) does this mean i just need to adjust the clutch or is it the throw out bearing or the whole clutch system??

my guess is either
oil on plate
warped plate
shot springs

Either way i would be prepared for a new clutch set up

Is oil dripping where the bell housing joins the motor?

As blue said. :thumb

When you replace the clutch, spend the extra time and money to get your flywheel machined as well, just to ensure that everything is true. :)

also check ur engine mounts. Had this poblem on mums car. The engine mounts had gone and allowed the engine to twist , and pull the cluth cable releasing the clutch, then the cable would unload and the clutch would take up etc.

You may also need more of a bend in your clutch cable outer, between the pan and the gearbox. This is a common problem.

the guide tube didnt have much bend in it! so i brought a new one and got another few washers!! but also the throw out bearing has a warn face and has a few mm play in the bearing!
does anyone know if a clutch off a 1500 beetle will fit upto a 1600 swing axle early type 3 box???
there is a little bit of oil in the gearbox so im not sure weather to do the rear main or not???
