Is there a real difference between a cam on a fuel injected Type 4 motor and a carbed one??
In particular - putting dual weber type carbs in place of the fuel injection
I was/am/sort of/maybe looking at a 914 and the engine number matches with a 914 - so "assuming" it has the correct cam and it had dual carbs.
Was reading elsewhere (Pelican Parts) that replacing the FI with carbs is a backward step
"The regular fuel injection cam will not work well with a set of carbs, and likewise, if you place carbs on the motor, then you should use a cam
ground for specifically for carburation. If there is a carb cam in the engine, replacing the original fuel injection will not make the car run well.
The cam needs to be matched to the injection system."
Any comments on this??
Never heard of it with regard to Beetle motors??
My mates 2007 had FI - now IDAs and it has NO ISSUES at all.
