Hey guys,

Noob question, My 57 cant be locked, the drivers side handle has a key hole, but doesn't work, and the passenger side has no locks at all.

Did they all come with no locks? Are lockable door handles available somewhere ? Any suggestions ? Living in Sydney, I am asking for it to get pinched if the doors aren't locked.

I'm not too familiar with locks and door handles for a '57, but I'd say you can change the barrel for the lock yourself. If you go to Classic Vee Dub they have handles with the lock barrel included and a set of keys. I recently took my door handle apart (it wasn't working) and the barrel simply slides out.

Cheers man, you beat me to it, I just saw the Classic VW web site, they have a lot of different handles, I'll shoot up there later on and have a look-see.

Gonna be hard to not spend money in that place... SHEEEESH!!

Haha. There's a few other VW places but that's probably the closest one to you. If you're like me, you'll just wander around for about 15 mins looking at little bits here and there and getting ideas :P Maybe call before going just to make sure they have it in stock. Then again, even if I don't need anything, I'll go there to wander around. Haha. But I'm lucky it's only 15 mins from my place.
