Since my last big road trip a few weeks back now, my bug is taking about 5 to 10 minutes to warm up even when on the road. During that time at every
intersection, the engine will cut out and I have to start the engine again.
What am I missing? Choke? Fuel? Air? or something else?
I've had a little fiddle but it hasn't seemed to make much of a difference.
Help appreciated.
Cheers.
Firstly what engine/carby is in the vehicle?
If the carb is fitted with a fuel shutoff solenoid check that it is powered and working correctly. It can also be a sticking valve in your float bowl
on the carby, which you can temporarily remedy by giving the float bowl a sharp rap with a screwdriver handle.
My Baja had the same problem just last week and it turned out to be the fuel cutoff solenoid. The car must be able to suck enough fuel past when it's
reving but doesn't have enough vacuum to at idle.
Hope you find the problem soon. I know there's nothing worse than coasting into a set off lights only to have your car stall, at every intersection
as you cross town

Engine is 1500
Carby is Solex 30 pict
Thanks for your thoughts.
Is the shutoff solenoid also called the cut off valve? That had been very loose which I have corrected. Could I have over corrected - is there such a
thing?
I'll try the floater tapping when I go for a spin later.
Yep, car stalling is getting very annoying
YOU W ILL HAVE TO TAKE THE AIR CLEANER OFF AND SEE IF CHOKE IS ON OR OFF
will do ...

Thanks Dean. I'll also check it.
Is it low on power too ? Check your leads are all plugged on.
a long trip could have picked up crud in the fuel tank check filter ,also start the engine and go to the back and rev the engine up and put your hand
over the carby top and make it suck
,this will if you are lucky suck all the crud down and away
just a few maybe helps but worth a try it free
trying running it without the air box
