Gearbox question

How difficult/easy is it to replace gearbox mounts? Can it be done with out disconecting everything in order to move box back for front mount? Just
asking cause not looking forward to pulling rear apart on Al.

I did my rear mount while the motor was out but looks like it could be done easily enough with the motor in, don't know about the front mount, though
I think I'm going to find out fairly soon.

Oh buggar Donn. Mine definitely needs doing - have to hold it in 4th gear under load. Been doin it since weekend before last. On the bright side the
car has finally kept running for a whole school term and not had a serious break down. Will let you know how I go with it and if I can find a shortcut
to pulling it all out.

motor out if you're doing the 'banana mounts' on the cradle of the gearbox

Oh well Craig at least I'm getting good at it. But do I need to disconnect suspension in order to get to front mount at nose of box?

Is it swingaxle?
I've done may dad's swingaxle Baja without unbolting the axle tubes at the springplates. But honestly, it was that much of a pain in the arse I'd
undo everything if I was doing it again.
It's only three bolts per side, take the nuts off the handbrakes cables so they can slide back into the tubes abit. Make sure there's enough length
in your normal brakes lines too. And loosen off you clutch cable. Possibly have to disconnect the wiring to the starter too.
But the most important thing to do is MARK YOUR SPRINGPLATES. Mark where the tube is bolted to the plate so you can set your rear toe in back to where
it was.
