Hi all
I went to work early so i could change my plugs and leads and it looks like the thread came out too.
I just screwed it back in.
What are my options???
Start with Cheapest and easy first........ And then subi turbo. Lol.
Help. Thanx.
Hi
That looks like a pretty bad insert, it doesn't even have full thread coverage.
Options, if the hole in the head is not too large a heli coil or other type of insert could be fitted, failing that a new head or subi motor.
If you got it back in OK you now have some time to consider your options.
Steve
Thanx steve.
Where can I get inserts?
Hi
You would nee a special tool to fit them. Might be best to print off the photos you have and talk to VW specialist in your area, Wayne Penrose or
Dunhams.
Steve
Thanx mate.
dang mate
why start running ngk?
this is very common i dont know if it was to tight or just if the car is worm but they seem to come out
would be a heli coil the time sert are better there was a thread not that long ago have a look 1500s coverd everything!
Yer it might have been warm, oh well. I'll let you know what I end up doing.
Why don't you like nkg? It's what my parts rep sent me.
I WOULD CLOSE THE GAP ON THAT OLD PLUG THEN...
PUT IT BACK IN....
YOU CAN GET REPLACEMENT HEADS FROM JAX HEADS...

That looks like some sort of insert. Heli coil, recoil etc are a single piece of wire.
If it's be repaired once it's best to try and match that if you want to repair it.
Time-sert is a sleeve type, but not sure of other brands the same.
Each kit will have differences in the thread in the head, so not always easy to convert from one to the other!
Time-sert are expensive but worth the effort. http://www.timesert.com/
Other than that it's welding the head up and re-machining or simply get new/good used heads
