Hi, can anyone help with some advice/pictures on how to install a brake pedal return spring on a 1963 bug (RHD) i think the spring i currently have on is snapped somewhere, just cant figure how it goes on, thanks a lot
Pull the cluster out, remove the circlip, slip the cluth pedal off, slide the spring on and reassemble
Is your 63 bug pedal setup the same as my 61. As you can see at the bottom of the brake pedal (to the left of it) the coil of the spring. I ordered a
new one, but a different spring arrived so yours may be different. Let us know and then we can advise better.

P.S. What area are you from, this will help if people are willing to come over and show you.

thanks for the help guys, ill get the new spring and see how it goes, cheers
One way in which I have been able to fit that spring is to assemble all of the bits with the cluster not bolted down. Then put the straight part of
the spring in its place on the floor just behind the cluster shaft, push the cluster down to the floor and then bolt it into place.
Just be careful that you don't disconnect the clutch cable end from the clutch pedal hook while moving the cluster around.
The accelerator pedal must be fitted as well as it cannot be fitted after the cluster is bolted down.
Alternatively trying to fit the spring onto the pedal after the cluster is bolted down, can be a bit of a hassle. It can be done either way.
