engine sounds different now

After adjusting the valve clearence to .006 I have noticed my engine has a different note to it. seems like a little more power also. Previously the valves were lose so adjusting them made them tighter.

Is it possible that when you adjust your valve clearance that you can change the sound of your engine.

let me know what you think.

yes it can. If the clearance was too much, tightening them would effectively increase valve duration and slightly increase lift.

Can or will make a difference in sound and performance. what puchrods you got?

Yeah, I've had adjusting tappets make a difference to the sound of an engine... especially if the clearance was too much, as for one you'll reduce the "tap tap tap" sound, making the exhaust and fan noise more noticeable.

My old 65 with a 1300 twin port had a very quiet exhaust, and it sounded almost turbine like when everything else was spot on !!!
