i got new set disc calipers, how can i tell wot they r, ghia, bug fastback. thanks greg
They will all interchange except for very late Type 3 calipers, they have a different bolt spacing and use a thicker disc.
Any other calipers interchangable with the bug caliper?
I read somewhere about Talbot? (Is Talbot English for something Australian?).

Hi
As already said all Beetle and early Type 3 callipers are interchangeable. They are all slightly different.
1500 Beetles and 1971 supers used a single pin calliper with a square pad.
72 supers used twin pin calliper with a square pad
73, 74 & 75 L bugs and 76 bugs used a single pin calliper with almost round pads
Early Type 3s used a calliper that is almost the same as a the 1972 Super bug calliper, the Type 3 calliper has only one bleed nipple, the 1972 Super
has 2 bleed nipples.
All Beetle callipers use 40 mm pistons, Early Type 3s and the late wider bolt pattern Type 3 / 4 calliper use 42 mm pistons.
I've tried to get Talbot Horizon callipers but I've had no luck
Steve
This is what the pads look like
Talbots were Scottish made cars... Rootes group..
then taken over by the french...
I've never seen one in Australia...
