lookin too find out about supercharging options, i would like to supercharge a 1600maybe with a mild rebuild of the case maybe to 1640 with some port work, maybe slightly better carby. I know of judson and shorrock but knot many details, wondering if any other options. My current case is very stock but is clean and strong and would ideally like to keep standard case to start with. It seems that a judson is pretty bolt on , are they hard to get and are there any other opitions. I am no mehanic and this is my first serious foray into cars, hands on would aprreciate any advice.

There are a few here with judsons and a few blown kombis

Your cheapest option is to fit a Toyota super charger but getting it to fit.
Oval Glen is fitting one (but it may be a while )
Getting it to fit in a beetle is the trick

Turbo-ing a beetle is easier. Quite a few have those.

Definetley rebuild the motor first.

Judsons are "fairly" hard to come buy. You cant just walk down the street and get one. Then again - ask round. There was one for sale a while back

Use a Toyota sc12 supercharger (off Toyota 1600), they come up on ebay @$300 from time to time.

Im ( Very slowly putting the Supercharger ) on my daily driven Oval.
Mine is some unusual USA thing, but if doing it again , Id use the Toyota one.
My brother is Supercharging a Beetle which he has converted to Full Automatic for Circuit Racing.
I go to drag events with same mech whos running the bigger Toyota blower on a 1776cc. It is amazing to see and Hear.
Mate of mine - Greedy has been driving around for a while with sc12 in his Kombi.
Any way , hope you do it, and quicker than me. I overcomplicated it by trying to integrate intercooler.
Aim for 5 Lbs boost and you shouldnt have any major problems. It is good that the sc12 is already at the correct set up for 1600 cc so that should make it easy.
I used the Multi V belts like the Toyota blower uses.
Tuning with carbs can be a bit frustrating but I think I'll get mine dynoed when done.
