Is it possible t fit a 6 rib kombi box onto a type 1 1500 0r 1600 engine?

id say yes as you can bolt up the 2L T4 motor to a 1600 box.

Everything is the same except the input shaft, type 4s have a longer one.

Shaft bearings are in the block of type4s but are in the gland nut with type1s so it would probably bottom out first.

Correct fix would be open it up and fit a type1 shaft, I'm sure they're interchangable maybe Dave could confirm that.

Rough but easy fix lop it off with the angle grinder
Pretty sure its a 10mm difference from memory

The 091 trans , when fitted with the longer 091 bell housing fits the type 1 engine with no modification if it has its original (long ) input shaft.

If the trans has the earlier bell housing (002 part number) and long shaft, the shaft will have to be shortened or replaced with the earlier short one.

Make sure the starter motor is correct for what ever bell yours has.

It should also be noted that the type 1 engine use a "late" clutch and 12V ring gear to suit the 091 throw out bearing style and starter.
