Hey guys,
Picked up a bargain ratty mesh sun visor last night for my bug, just have a question about attaching it, this particular one has 4 square brackets (2
either side) which seem to slip around the sides of the pillars just near the doors pretty snugly, and the brackets are bolted on to the visor part,
but there doesn't seem to be any way to fasten the brackets to the actual car, they just seem to slip over the edge of the pillars.
Should there be fasteners to attach tot he car ? or are they meant to just slip over and clip on ??
Cheers ... Ben..
yep - they just slip over and clip onto the gutter. There should be a couple of dome nuts that attach the brackets to the visor. Loosen these off
first then tighten them down once you have the brackets behind the gutter.
I needed to add a washer underneath the dome nuts (between the bracket and the dome nut) so that the nuts would tighten up enough to stop the visor
from moving.
You may also want to consider fitting some U-shaped rubber to the edge of the visor (where it sits against the top of the gutter) to stop it from
damaging the paint and to help it 'grip' the car better.
I'll post a pic of mine as fitted to my '63 Bug as soon as I can figure out how to transfer the pics from my camera to this new 'pooter!

Ah you're a superstar. Cheers mate.
Hi Ben,
OK, managed to wind up my old 'pooter again (I thought it was dead this time) so here are the pics.
I'm no photographer but hopefully you can get the idea....
It must have been the drivers side that has the washers under the dome nuts - I remember that the clips were all slightly different shapes and I
swapped them around to get the best fit.
You can also see some damaged paint in the door jamb - this happened before I had the idea of fitting the rubber to the edge of the visor. It's
doesn't move now!
Hope this helps.

Thanks so much mate, Thats the perfect explanation.
I can see how the clips function properly, I was trying to tighten the screws and nuts with the visor edge outside the gutter with the clips, but now
I see you place the visor edge IN the gutter and the clip around the gutter.
Someones gonna have a ratty new (old) visor on his beetle tonight.
No problems - post a pic if you have a chance. We would love to see your work!
