Just what I didn't need before a big roadtrip. Filled up the Kombi last night but today the fuel gauge gradually dropped further and further
until the needle actually sat below the empty line!! Sometimes it would go back about a third of a tank after cornering or starting off at the lights
but as soon as I had to stop at the next set of lights I could literally watch the needle slowly drop all the way back to below empty until it
eventually stayed there this afternoon.
I kept checking under the Kombi a few times during the day just to be sure I wasn't leaking fuel and also checked the engine bay but could see no
signs of leaks. To be sure I filled up again tonight and could only get $8 worth of petrol in the tank so figure it musn't be a leak.
Any suggestion on what might be wrong? It's not getting the sender replaced is it as I figure there's a snowball's chance in hell of
getting that done before Valla?
Guess if I can't get it fixed by Friday I'll just have to fill up every 300kms going off the odometer just to be on the safe side.
:jesus dying in that manner is generally the sender & when you get to Valla there will be quite a few people who can determine that for you through careful process of elimination, 300 ks is safe, have a really nice time
Your going without fuel gauge and Im going without a speedo, great pair we make hehe
A loose wire or connector could do this. Check all the way from guage to sender with a multimeter, wiggling the wire/connector to find the intermittant break in the circuit. Good luck!
