For the uninitiated, I am starting a thread on single carbs.

I see there are quite a few new carbs available out there, and different ones suit different conditions. I have a stock original 1971 1600 twinport with stock dissy.

What models used 30, 31, 34 etc? SP, DP, 1200,1300,1500, 1600 etc. Years?
What are the main differences? Factual information will help here.
Are some better for stock dissy v's 009?
Full rebuild, rebush, shafts, valves, seats, solenoid etc on original German carb $200 a better option?

you need to add $200 approx for rebuilding / rebushing an original German carb.
Dont think it matters what Pict it is


Yes - it is my preferred option as it is original German quality.
The castings are good quality

28PICT/1 carby in late 64
1300 - 30PICT/1
1500 - 30PICT/2
1600 single port - 30 PICT/3

There is one that Rob being an aussie should have known.

All standard bugs here after late 70 (except 1600 76s) had 1300twin ports with 31pict3 carbs.
it was baby version of the 34pict3 with a slightly smaller throat but still bigger than the original 1300 and 1500 carbs.

I actually like these on a stock 1600TP.
They need an adapter to fit a 34 manifold but are bit less finicky than the 34carbs but have no power loss.
The only trick is getting the size right on the aux power jet so they dont flat spot mid range when you stomp it.

What about the different brands?

I had our original carby cleaned, and my mechanic said not to change it, as it is in good condition. He prefers the OEM German carby on stock motors if you want stock performance.
