clutch cable removal
pikey - March 29th, 2011 at 04:26 PM

Hi All,
It,s been awhile and I am coming to the end of twin heater channel and floor pan replacements, thank God!!
I am having trouble removing the clutch cable, it gets stuck in the "tunnel". The cable is intact and just getting changed because the eye end is very worn. As I pull the cable through at the front end it starts to get stuck when the threaded adjustment fitting has disappeared into the "tunnel" about 12"-14"
I don't want to cut the end off the old cable as I can still use/repair it.
I'm thinking the solid cable outer inside the "tunnel" may be full of crud and debris and that is restricting the movement, alternatively the tube may be crushed, don't know why, just a thought.
anyone with any good ideas about the way forward?

The clutch tube may be broken or split. Have seen this happen.
You may have to cut the bottom of the tunnel open to repair.

dissapears into the tunnell or dissapears into the bowden tube? cable ends can get stuck at the end of the bowden tube/beginning of tunnell very easily.

cables arent very expensive. its not a big deal to buy a replacement.
