VDO Tachometer with tumblers INFO needed
68AutoBug - April 10th, 2011 at 04:15 PM

I found a VDO Australian made Tachometer [all plastic] in one of My drawers recently so I decided to replace My old German one...
at the back of this one are 5 tumblers.. or DIP switches..

I don't know what these do, apart from change the position of the needle ... but it seems random to Me...??

it also has a High and Low terminals on the back plus the + POS and __ neg terminals...

I have fiddled around with the tumbler switches and it looks close now but haven't checked the RPM with another tacho yet...

I have the coil lead attached to the Hi terminal at present..

LEE

sorry about the poor photos.. looks like I didn't see the tumbler Dip switches.. till later on..??

they are to change the settings for different cars, ie number of cylinders.

Hi Barls

I guessed that...
but have no idea...
I found a site in the USA where they had 3 dip switches..

but this has five...??

its close now...
If I use the Low terminal to the coil... the needle goes up a fair bit... so I'm still on High... but maybe I should be on Low ??
and then try the dip switches again..???

it was just driving Me crazy NOT having a tacho working...lol

I like to have a tacho and speedo.... lol....

cheers

LEE

PS: just making it for 4 cylinders used to be easy... lol
