Hi guys, after some advice regarding swapping long axles for short on a 1970 standard bug.... can it be done? I know i can swap the axles but it looks like it may cause the tyre to foul with the upper bumpstop? has anyone ever done this? just trying to get some decent rubber under the rear.

Wider guards wil be easier.

It is already in peices, just need to decide what axles to put back in.
