Oil Temp gauge
donn - June 6th, 2011 at 09:32 AM

I have a VDO oil temp gauge, 0-150 deg. C, on the case it has the following info........... Product of VDO Malaysia 3003........ 310 010 015..............322.8-18.6 OHM 12v I believe the sender unit is kaput (thanks Ian) but am having trouble finding a new one, can anyone point me in the right direction, also one fella told me it's the wrong gauge for the car as the temp doesn't go high enough, can that be correct? I'm in Newcastle
Thanks
Don

0-150C is fine for oil temp. 0-120C is usually used for water temp. If your oil gets anywhere near 150C, you've got serious problems.

Are you having trouble finding where to buy the sender? Or are you having trouble finding what sender you need?

I think I have identified the sender as there is a number stamped on it but no brand, so far all I have been able to find out is that it MAY not be the correct one for the gauge, that's why I posted the info off the back of the gauge. It seems that places like Auto One etc have people to serve but no-one with any real knowledge.

If you look up the VDO website you should be able to find all the gauges and matching senders listed somewhere.

Hi Don

150C is OK... as the oil temp shouldn't go that high...
the vdo sender I'm using is 320 002 on the packet..
not sure about the resistance ?
but it seems to work OK...
100C on 120C gauge VDO
100C on 150C gauge VDO

most VW parts shops will have the VDO gauges....

LEE

PS: I tend to stay away from REPCO & Autocheep etc...
VW shops know what they are selling... lol

Ha ha Lee just this minute got the same info from Repco, shoula remembered there is a fella at Repco in Warners Bay who "used to play around with dubs" as he put it, not that that was all that important as this is after market stuff, he's an old(er) bloke and knows what he's talking about with cars and invariably has the correct info, if he dosn't know he goes out of his way to find out, so I've ordered it and it should be here in a couple of days.
Thanks all
