Why wont the lights on the Type 3 nothc, go off highBeam???

probabally welded the contacts closed

IF it is the same as a kombi, there is a relay that switches high to low beam under the fusebox. Not cheap to replace either. gets stuck in one setting as the plastic gizmo gets fried by high watt bulbs or old age. Can you hear a click when you flick the lever but stays on high?

Silly question but are you flicking the dipper switch ???

More than likely the points in the switch or relay are welded shut...

replace them one by one till you solve theh problem.
