Hi All,
I did an oil change today and noticed the grey oily sludge on the oil filler cap and inside the crankcase exhaust breather tube. I also found a small
pool of water sitting in the top of the oil fill tube.
Could this just be a result of all the bad weather lately?
If it is something worse, what could it be?
The oil was good and black, with some tiny metal filings in it - not much, but a little bit. I've been changing it very regularly to try and get as
much contamination out as possible. I've even covered the bottom of the sump plate with magnets to trap the metal particles - which worked pretty
well.
I noticed some water drip out of the oil bath when I upended it as well.
Any ideas?
Global warming
high humidity, cool weather and short drives would cause this.
if you are experiencing some of none of these symptoms, your engine needs drugs.
Water cooling ???
The engine does need drugs considering the struggle it was to keep up with the Kombis on the hunter run over the weekend! But yeah, it has been wet
and cold the last few weeks and I didn't get it over the weekend - so all is good for now I hope.
Thanks.
Some say a carbon tax will sort out that global warming Ian...
