airhead - June 22nd, 2011 at 05:00 PM

if my engine returned 172ft/lbs Tq at 4550rpm on a slipping clutch, what loss in horsepower would that be. a little or a lot.
cheers. cause i worked out 154hp. would that be at the wheels or the flywheel.
i could be wishing
cheers again:cool:

Use Dynos as a very rough guide only.
Every dyno is different and some can give way different figures to the another.

Torque and HP also vary greatly depending on the engine setup.
One engine can make a crapload of hp and have shit all torque (rotarys come to mind ) others can be the opposite.

Good example of that is my Diesel Navara only makes 85hp but over 200ft/lb where as the subi in my bug makes over 140hp but is only good for 189ft/lb.
it's all in the engine setup.

I think what Joel is trying to say is, take it to the track! Let's see what it makes on the quarter mile bitumen dyno.

Just fix that clutch first ;)

What are your specs?
those are pretty respectable figures.

Power is the rate of work or torque. How much is done per second or minute.

Torque is a measurement of rotational force.

Power is like sprinters, runners. Fast and doing lots of distance.

Torque is like a weightlifter. Slower and doing lots of weight.
