Hi, guy
I got 74 superbug which make lound noise when putting in reverse. It happen in reverse gear only, the other gears put in fine. I got scat shifter on
it, first though it could be a faulty shifter but swap with stock one , still does the same. Any suggestion other than my reverse syncro please.
thanks

maybe just adjust your clutch cable a little bit,
But why worry.
how much time do you spend going backwards.

Reverse is the only gear without Synchromesh
and they do whine normally.. if going fast in reverse...
so, I assume the gear is Crunching as You select reverse...
turn the large wing nut on the clutch arm above the LHS rear axle,,, try half a turn.. clockwise looking at the end of the cable and wing nut
OR
[turn top of the wing nut towards the gearbox]
and see if its better...
You could try another half turn to see if it fixes the problem...

It's a gearbox issue.
They changed something with reverse in 73 and all gearboxes after this both swing and IRS have this weak reverse problem.
Dangerous Dave I'm sure can explain what it is.
mine used to be noisey as hell in reverse before we rebuilt it, swapped whatever the weak parts were for the earlier style.
But its very common with 73 and later gearboxes.
