Out of curiosity, what are the vw wiper arms made of?

Debating whether to put a coat of paint on it.
usually i don't ahve any prob workin it out but there was a slight rust stain, maybe dribbled from the wiper blade holder or something on it.. i dunno, or the arm itself rusting.

steel and some of the early ones are staino

Depends which model when talking fatchick beetle.

The SWF ones used to 71 are steel, the Trico ones from 72 on stainless steel.

Synchronicity, I've just finished another little wiper upgrade project that's the only reason I know this

I've painted both the steel and stainless ones before with no dramas, always looks alot better than raw weathered finish.

I have mostly seen stainless SWF wipers. Have seen one metal with silver paint from a N model type 3 but thats it as far as actual metal ones I have seen.
