smithy68 - July 19th, 2011 at 05:35 PM

Hi I am trying to find a shop that sells the heavy duty plastic fresh air heater hose.
Anyone know where to try?
Thanks.

Try Whitworths or Bias Boating.

from the engine fan housing to the heater box?

I haven't actually seen it for sale in Australia

BUT very EXPENSIVE..... IN THE USA

only the original paper foil type of the silver foil type...

they do look similar to the ones Kev has shown but they are the mufflers under the body between the heater box and the body..

Hi

Don't bother with them, they melt.

Agreed, cheap ones melt but there was some really good quality plastic ones available years ago that would outlast the car.
One of my bugs came with a pair, they even have a VW part number on them and the little manufacture date stamp was 1993 so no idea if they are mexican or what.

They are still on one of my engines now, very well constucted but are only designed for a stock muffler so only go down as far as the breast plate.
A mates bug has a pair of them too, wish I knew where to buy them.

I do have some 45mm ducting hose that I bought for my A/C that works well as fan shroud heater hose.

Its got a metal spiral wire in it and it some sort of rubberised plastic material that flexes well and can tolerate high heat.

It was dear as poision though, about $50 a meter, but would never need replacing.
Got it at Repco.

Hi Kev

I tried them as well, they burn eventually and the clips are useless, no heaters now so I have no problems with heater hoses any more.
