I've just relocated to QLD from NSW and I'm trying to decide what best to do with my bug with regards to registering it here. It's lowered with
disc brakes all round but I never got an engineers certificate in NSW. How strict are the laws in QLD? Is it likely to be plain sailing or am I
setting myself up for a nightmare having a modified car? Perhaps I should just keep in registered in NSW?
Any advice appreciated

It should be plain sailing as long as you use a vw freindly roadworthy station and it is not stupidly low or has a narrowed beam
What type of kit are the disc brakes , stud pattern etc .

The disc brake conversion will have to be engineered and have a blue plate fitted to the vehicle, if they are a comericial brand the person you bought them from should have had them approved for use on public roads, unfortunatly most disc brakes you purchase are for off road use only and it will be up to you to gain the engineering approval, you need to get a roadworty certificate for queensland rego and to register your car legally all the mods need to be approved.
all i can say is im glad you didnt waste your money doing down in nsw like i did then had to get all done again when i came across the border it was the biggest crock

Thanks guys. Will call those guys for a chat. I'm running porsche 5 stud on fuchs. So all modified cars have blue plates, I've seen lots of hot rods which do not have these, how do they get around it?

THE photo shows the 5 stud porsche mounting holes drilled using 1 of the 4 stud beetle mounting holes, this is illegal and you would not get a engineer to aprove the brakes, you could get a shonky roadworthy but thats alright until you have a accident and your insurance wipes you. i used a engineer , Richard Larsen at loadsafe engineering ( 38511066 ) to approve my four wheel disc brake conversion which i disigned and fabricated from scratch, he is very knowlegable about all aspect's of brake conversions, i cannot confirm if all the hotrods you see do not have the blue plates fitted but are required by law to be fitted to any vehicle that has been modified.
Actually the extra marks are rotor retaining screws, the conversion looks pretty good to me, should pass a roady without to much drama
when i went from qld to vic, i just transfered rego over, went into vicroads they came out checked engine chassis numbers, no roadworthy required...............i would ring them to find out what they want.
Thanks for your input guys, this is a conversion from John Sherman on the Goldie, he's been making these for donkeys years so pretty sure everything is above board. I spoke to Leon's motors, top bloke, really helpful and sounds like he will make it everything straight forward.
If from Volksconversions then probably using T2 hubs for the porsche stud pattern cos you cannot leagally re-drill a 4 stud to 5 in Oz.
RWC will require a blue plate with the correct codes before they'll pass it and same for Qld transport. YOu Could get it RWC'd badly and QLD
transport wouldn't then check the vehicle properly, maybe, but if you have an accident then you are buggered legally!!!!!!
