i need/want some advice on wheels, just want some opinions of what you would think would look good on my beetle.
i have been thinking sprintstars, radars... and then all the others!
heres the car
now give me answers!
original sprintstars (ratty ones) or those 17" radars look would look cool
nah im not into 17" just doesnt look all that good in my eyes. 15" is what im feelin, but yeah i think i would have a hard time trying to find OG
sprintstars.
who makes those radars that have the inside edge painted black?
like these http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i187/KILLERWATT13/MillsPond.jpg
Here's what it looks like with a 6in narrowed beam/dropspindles and dropped 2 splines, radars with 145/65r15s on the front and 165r15s on the back
.....
And later with the 4.5in beam/spindles, 2 splines in the rear, chrome empi's with 145/65r15s and 205/65r15s......
cheers for the photos Rhett! gives me more to think about.
ive got drop spindles on the way, and yet to make a decision about wheels but im pretty certain ill be going the sprintstars.
when you did the two splines, did you use the plates it has in it now? or used notched ones?
cause im um 'nd arring about getting adjustable drop plates.
I like it the way it is now

yeah i love the rear camber and fatty's on the back with a nice narrow front with tiny tyres, with very little rake.
thats a perfect stance to me.
you reckon get the same offset for the rear? ET +15?
F**K! they are gonna cost me $1000, where the repro's from vollks are gonna cost $600...
is it really worth the extra?
In my opinion yes,
These are a very accurate copy of the originals, in pressed steel and all.
The alloy replica's have nothing on these mate, plus you'd be one of the first in OZ to have a set too.
hmmm, your talking me into it haha.
i am just looking up how much to notch off the plates, about an inch down? and 10 inches towards the wheel?
Camber, camber and more camber, that is the only way to go!
Damn I am getting way to excited about the idea of lowering Zelda some more.
Have to dive into a new engine first, but then suspension will be number one priority!
I rekon the chrome empis look the business. Even Polished Alloy would look good if it's too blingy for you
yeah they look good, but the car has already had them. and they arent totally my favourite.. thanks for the extra opinion though
Yeah this is true - always good to find you're own style
Maybe just keep searching through galleries and try to find ones that really take your fancy.
IMO a set of staggered fuch's would look amazing
Stockies, chrome smoothies, camber, low profile tires.
17x4.5's on the front, 17x6's on the rear.
That's what I wanna do...
Dreams...
good luck gettin 17 smoothies, you'll have to buy the airkewld? ones from the states. pretty pricey for what they are.
Yeah, they are the ones!
They are pricey, but I'm in two frames of mind like you, in my own little dilemma.
I don't know if I want to go all out low and cruisey, or if I stick to my original plan of a German look...
We'll see what happens after this engine comes along and finds a home in the back of Zelda.
Good luck with eubber for a 17x4.5 wheel, looking at the car & pure aesthetics perhaps a 15 / 17 combo could work? Big fat 17s rear could look cool, keeping tyres in proportion with sidewalls...
personally, i think yours would look better as the german look.
all racey and quick.
i prefer the early bugs to be slammed.
Yeah, I think that is what she'll end up being, nice looking german looker!
But I agree with you, earlier bugs look damn neat slammed.
Guess I'll just have to find myself another bug, early one, and get her scraping!
who makes the radars that have the centre bit painted black and they are flat on the top not angled like the usual ones.

They're Randars, same dude that make's the RDW's.
Ahh, cheers matey.
I seriously need to be better at decision making haha.
