I am about to pull apart the rear suspension (IRS 76 pan) and was wondering what size hex key I needed to remove the pivot pin for the diagonal arm. Can anyone tell me, or perhaps loan or sell me one?
17 mm mate very handy if you gat to buy one only about 12 bucks
Yup - like Aussie Dubbin says they're 17mm... same as the drain and filler plugs on the trans.

Hi
I have set of ratchet spanners that I bought from Aldi years ago. I have a cut off piece of 17 mm Allen key that I turn with ratchet spanner once its
loosened, makes it much quicker.
Steve
just go to autobarn, repco, supercheap and by a socket set, $50

Meyers Manx Australia Sells them on line.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Appreciate it. Cheers!
i welded a 17mm bolt in the end of a socket.....
Thats pretty much all I did.
Type 3 wheel bolt with a 17mm head welded to a M14x1.5 wheel nut

haha, I had a 17mm hex bolt head and welded it to a empirical spanner. worked like a charm
Just make sure you haven't got one of those 12 splined CV bolts like mine, have you cleaned one throughly? there were allen and 12 spline

Yep if it's a bug it should be 12 spline - Kombi's used the allen key bolt. If you have any trouble getting the 12 spline in you can bash a 6mm
allen key into it and use that to turn it. One of mine I had to use that method and vice grips on the outside to get it. If this is the case plan to
replace some bolts as it wrecks them. I ended up buying a full replacement set just in case. Take care of the little lock washer underneath too (or
order some new ones).
cheers Peter.
GRRRRRRR You guys are right, the CV bolts are of the 12 spline nature. Can anyone tell me what size 12 spline key I should order? I know a 6mm allen ket will fit it (sort of), but that doesn't really help.
mine just says M8 on the side of my 1/2 socket type.
Mine also says M8, as well as sidchrome, and a number - 14298. I don't know if that is a part number? I got it from Repco years ago.
Hi
This is what I use for the 17 mm hex. Aldi ratcheting ring spanner and a piece of 17 mm Allen key. I use a socket or normal ring spanner to firist
loosen bolt then this to unwind them quickly.
Steve
From memmory its 8 mm 12 spline and a bugger to find just one piece. usually sold in a set may need to borrow oone

Here is the one I got from Repco a number of years ago.
