Question about fitting drop spindles
smithy68 - September 24th, 2011 at 09:58 AM

I want to know, as I have not fitted drop spindles before if I need to replace both the king and link pin sets or can I just replace the king pins. If someone could explain the best way to fit them and what parts I should replace at time of fittment would be a huge help.
I am a younger generation and king and link pins have never been something I've worked with before.
Cheers.
P.S Is it easy to get hold of a bush reeming tool.

you will have to get hold of the right size reamer and guide, it is best to replace both the king and link pins when you do the change over. if you have not used a adjustable reamer before it would be best to get a shop to ream the bushes and assemble the stb axles and the link pin carriers, you can then fit the link pin bushes your self.

when you say a 'shop' do you mean a general mechanical business, or a suspension place or other?

I've been doing some searching, you can buy the reamer sets from ebay, I 'am going to buy a set.

You only need one size with the guide, last time a bought a single P & N reamer and guide it cost about $130, cheaper to pay a vw shop to ream the king pins and press the stub axle and link pin carrier together
