I'm in the process of building a buggy on a 1958 king pin pan.
The brakes need a complete rebuild.
I've fitted a 1970 swing axle gearbox, 4 bolt wheels, to the rear and I want the front wheels to be the same.
Can I fit 4 bolt, ball joint drum brakes to the front easily? I realise that some machining may be necessary.
I also have a set of ball joint disc brakes. Can they, with some machining, be fitted to the king pin front end? Of course I'd prefer the disc bakes.
Give Richard a call at V Force,he has a good knowledge and I possibly the parts required.
You will need to have the outside bearing bore machined to a larger size, there is a tappered roller available that will then fit the stub axle, brackets are commercially available to fit the caliper to the link pin stub axle. you will need to fit a dual circut master cylinder and have the conversion approved, this is quite a common conversion.
Thanks vwo60, That's what I thought I could do. I have the parts, a bracket to support the caliper is readily available and with a little machining it will be done.
i have the bearing part numbers if you need
