Timing a 1200 40 HP?

Hey guys, I am putting my engine back together and i'm up to the ignition timing stage. I have a 1200 40hp engine with the BIG distributor (vacuum Advance). I would like to know which lead goes where (Which lead from the distributor cap goes to what cylinder) and where do i actually time it? (top dead centre?)

get # 1 on TDC and where it points to on the cap is # 1

the next will be 4 then 3 and 2 or get a manual

Nah my manual hasn't got timing for a 40hp.

Oldvolkshome reckons 10 BTDC @ 800-950 rpm, vac hoses disconnected and plugged for any of the 40HP's.
