Engine does not turn over
vwbugsrule - October 31st, 2011 at 11:07 AM

Hey guys, I have finished my engine and i want to crank it over to start it and see if it works. I charged up the battery, connected all the electricals and gave it some fresh fuel. I turned the key and the engine hardly turns over. I removed the spark plug and it turns perfectly fine. The starter motor was perfectly fine before and same with the battery. So what is stopping the starter motor so turn the engine over ?
Hope you can help.

If you had to charge up the battery I'm guessing its been sitting low on charge for a while?

if so there's your problem

Yes it has been sitting around for a long time uncharged... damn ok thanks for that.

first thing to do is borrow a battery before getting all upset the battery if no good it would have had no worries winding over the worn out motor now it is showing it's age

The problem was the charger, it said the battery was fully charged, So obviously you would think it is charged, but it actually wasn't. I then tried a different charger which said the battery had 25% charge, so i charged it up again to 100% and she turns over now :D I will start it up tomorrow.
